The
7-8th Conference on pediatric problems was held at the
Pediatric Clinic of the Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU). The
Conference was held under the initiative and support of the Social
Pediatric Defense Foundation, the Red Cross of Georgia, Department of
Medicine, Society of Physicians of Georgia, Invalid Ligue of Georgia,
Faculty of Pediatrics of the TSMU, Pediatric Clinic of the TSMU and
Public Health Department of the City Hall. The
main topic and motto of the Conference was-Pediatry in the 21st
Century Must Be Aimed at Prevention of Disablement Mr. M. Zhvania chaired
the Conference. Following special topics were discussed: -
Medical and Social Aspects in Mucoviscidosis and Metabolic Disorders; -
Modern Aspects of Congenital Infections. A
large number of interesting reports was presorted. Special attention was
paid to the presentation – Therapeutic and Surgical Aspects of
Mucoviscidosis in Elderly People (Dr. Kh. Pachkoria). - a case report on a
60 yr-old patient L. Chkhobadze. This case is a rare example in the world
medical practice. The
Head Pediatrician of the City of Tbilisi Prof. G. Chakhunashvili thanked
all the participants of the Conference and presented a breaf review on the
state of pediatry in Georgia today and in future.
