Abstract: The high levels of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 is associated with smaller infarct size in experimental models of brain ischemia. We aimed to research the dynamic changes of blood IL-10 levels in acute stage of ischemic stroke and correlation of IL-10 initial data with ischemic lesion size. The levels of IL-10 were defined by application of ELISA method. Lesion size was detected by conventional MRI scans. Results revealed the negative correlation of IL-10 initial plasma levels with ischemic lesion size. Dynamics of IL-10 plasma levels during one week from ischemic stroke onset showed the association of reduced levels of IL-10 after 1 week from stroke onset with neurological worsening.
