In total 1240 patients (242 – children, 1089 – refugees from Abkhazeti and Samachablo and 151 – local inhabitants) were examined. The analyses of the data achieved revealed that health conditions of refugees differed in various regions. Different life conditions and level of medical care in the regions could have affect the health status of the study population.

According to disease prevalence first 3 positions in Borjomi region occupied uro-genital system (29.2%), circulatory system (240%) and respiratory system (14.8%) diseases; in Poti – gastro-intestinal system (17.8%), circulatory system (14.1%) and neural system and sensory organ (14.0%) disorders. In Rustavi and Mtskheta – neural system and sensory organ (35.1% and 23.8% respectively) disorders occupied the first position, then caome circulatory system (14.4% and 18.8% respectively) and gastro-intestinal system (14.7% and 17.8%, respectively) diseases.

The number of patients with malformations, who were examined in Poti, Rustavi and Mtskheta was twice as high as that in Borjomi (4.3%, 4.1%, 3.6% and 2.0%, respectively).

Especially poor psychological condition of the study population was observed in Borjomi, Rustavi and Mtskheta, where there is no free of charge medical care for refugees.

During the course of the actions more that 21 different drugs were delivered to the study population. These drugs, donated by the French organization “Physicians without Borders”, were delivered based on the prescriptions of HCP participating in the humanitarian actions.

It is important to stress here that physical and psycological conditions of the refugees are rather poor and special attention must be paid to their improvement.
