Tbilisi Declaration of May 31, 2003
“Tobacco Free Film and Fashion”

We acknowledge, that tobacco presents harmful and toxic product for health, that is danger for human life;

We acknowledge the right of present and future generation to live in tobacco free environment and to be protected from devastating medical, economical, social and moral damage coursed by secondhand smoke;

We acknowledge, that cessation of tobacco consumption significantly promotes the diminish of its distribution;

We acknowledge, that direct and indirect advertisement with other factors is contributing the rise of this product consumers;

We express particular sorrow because of alarming scale of tobacco epidemic as the most important problem of public health in Georgia and other countries of worldwide;

We acknowledge the unique meaning of fashion and film in establishment of public sense and individual;

We acknowledge nonexistence of censure in the creative process;

We express particular sorrow because of existing danger of using fashion, film and other spheres of art for promotion of tobacco products distribution;

We express our support towards the local and international activities directed to diminish of tobacco influence and public involved in it.

We undersigned make efforts:

To pay particular attention on independent development of fashion, film and other spheres of art from advertising interests of tobacco industry;

Wile the demonstration of any film in which is demonstrated the actual use of tobacco or its product to demand preceding of it by effective clip against tobacco (and not created by tobacco company);

To stop demonstration of tobacco marks in films;

To establish the categorization system of films (according the existence of tobacco use episode in film);

By the means of fashion not to be described tobacco use as an attractive, entertaining, sexual or charming activity;

Sponsorship of fashion show, awarding and competitions not to be undertaken by tobacco industry;

The usage of firm marks of tobacco products not to be on other products or institutions, that are connected with fashion or considers as fashionable;

Clothes, shoes or other fashionable accessories on which are expressed firm marks of tobacco product, emblems or other marks not to be sold or distributed,;

We suppose that realization of these steps is possible without censure and involvement in creative process.
