On
February 25, 2003 it was the 80th anniversary OF Prof. Givi (Grigol)
Bakhtadze – famous Georgian scientist, Doctor of Medical Sciences,
honored scientist, Academician of the Academy Medicine and Biology of
Georgia. After graduating Tbilisi State Meidcal Institute he has walked a
long way – from a post-graduate student to the academician. In 1972-93
he was the head of the Clinical therapy chair of the Therapeutic
Department of the mentioned above Institute. He played important role in
the development of Georgian physicians. He founded a new hospital of
clinical medicine at the Kakhiani state Railway Hospital. His medical,
pedagogic and scientific activities were very fruitful. He is the author
of 2 manuals, 4 monographs, Therapeutic Glossary, more than 200 scientific
and publicist works. He occupies the leading position in the world in the
field of arterial hypotension; many candidates and doctors of Medicine
prepared their theses under his guidance. In the very last days of his
Life he finished his last book – “The Physician’s Confessions”.
