According to the modern views, neonatal sepsis is a clinical syndrome of generalized systemic inflammatory reaction which is accompanied by bacteriemia and is revealed in the first month of life.
The main purpose of the work was to study the changes of cardiovascular system and some aspects of the treatment during the sepsis of the premature newborn babies.
Materials and Methods: Forty-eight newborn babies with the sepsis diagnose, who were hospitalized in the Pediatric Clinic premature pathology department of the Tbilisi State Medical University were under observation. They were examined thoroughly by the clinical-laboratory examination, whit included electrogardiography, photocardiography and echocardiography. The clinical analysis was held by the methods of variant statistics. From the premature newborn babies, diseased with sepsis, I degree of premature was revealed in 34%, II degree – in 43%, III degree – in 18.2% and IV degree – in 1.8%. Posthypoxian Cardiopathy was revealed in 26.5% of premature newborn babies. Non - rheumatic carditis appeared in 11% of babies in the way of myocarditis or myopericarditis. Electrocardiography showed the signs of miocardium diffusive damages, the hypertrophy of both ventricles, the prolongation of the ventricular systole, deceleration of atrium – ventricular conduction, cardiac arrhythmia as paroxysmal tachycardia, ventricular extra systole. Echocardiography showed the existence of echo active focuses; during the pericarditis on the electrocardiography a low voltage appeared, the ST segment deviation was revealed above the isoelectric line, T wave shortening was also shown and an electric axis was moved to the right.
The treatment was held by the broad spectrum of antibiotics: III-IV generation of cephalosporin’s combined with aminoglicosides, by detoxicant and symptomatic therapy. During carditis opposite instrumentalities of non-specific inflammation were used and during the severe forms hormonotherapy was used. For the metabolic and albuminous metabolism correction for the better working of miocardium and in the purpose of immunomodulation we used antioxidant Apicori. It is a mixture of two products rich with biologically active components: bees’ production and grape stone.
