The aim of this study was to study the frequency of left ventricular hypertrophy and pattern of left ventricular remodeling in patients with uncomplicated arterial hypertension (AH).

Material and Methods: We studied 314 patients with AH and 100 normal persons. Left ventricular structure (LV), mass and geometry was studied by EchoCG.

Results: LV was  hypertrophy was diagnosed in 5% of normal persons (all of them where female) and 44,27% of patients with AH. 33,76% of AH patients had normal LV geometry, 23,57% had concentric hypertrophy, 22,29 concentric remodeling and 20,38% eccentric hypertrophy. The most frequent type of LV geometry in man war normal type and concentric hypertrophy, in woman – concentric and eccentric hypertrophy.
